Best in Show: Stephens’s RAVENHO LOOKS LIKE TROUBLE FOR BRIGHTMEADOW
Curlycoated Retriever blk 17m d Ravenho Looks Like Trouble For Brightmeadow; worthy son I see of the top winning Sh Ch Brightmeadow Never Say Die; clean wedge-shaped head with parallel planes; oblique, oval eye with close lying ear set just above; gd neck, shoulder & forechest; well ribbed back; correct slight length; distinctive coat; ex tail carriage as he moved out so effortlessly & parallel with drive; clearly title bound.

RBIS: Tobin and Moss’s DAVIGDOR POPPIES
Pointer b. bang on 2yrs o/w Davigdor Poppies; judged, and put up in the breed, as a baby;  “strong but lissom”; such an attractive head being clean cheeked & slightly dish-faced with pronounced occiput & stop; kindly eye & close lying ear; gd neck & shoulder; correct, short-coupled, backline to a well placed tail that lashed as ate up the ground on that final gait & with drive.

BIS3: Morris’s RIONDEL SOLITAIRE
Cocker Spaniel 17m b. Riondel Solitaire; such a classically, so typical , blue roan with such a glorious eye & expression as to draw you in with lobular ears set on same level & extending beyond her square muzzle; clean & chiselled in head; nicely deep & compact; short, thick loin; flat silky coat with feathering; merry tail carriage & so freely true moving; looks  ready now to take on the world, as she emerges into adulthood, in this most competitive of breeds.

Best Puppy In Show

BPIS: Warburton’s OWLSPOINT LOADS OF TROUBLE
Bracco Italiano 9m d. Owlspoint Loads Of Trouble; striking white with orange & so worthy to be carrying this famously consistent breed prefix; well-balanced & developed for age to be almost square; long, clean & sculpted head with divergent planes; breed specific backline; his handler stepped in to maximise his chances as he gaited with that fast, extended, trot with drive & high head carriage; only needs to mature on along these same lines to get noticed & is certainly one to watch.

RBPIS: Smith’s POTTERZURI MISTER PUMBAA OF FLYENPYG
Labrador Retriever 10m yellow d. Potterzuri Mister Pumbaa Of Flyenpyg; unexaggerated breed type who struck me as both fit and functional with ex conformation; clean cheeked with defined stop; deep through chest & rib; desired otter tail carried spot-on; dense coat with hard feel; went true with drive; a “no nonsense” real prospect.

BP3: Roberts’s OAKSWARREN SMOULDERING HOT
Hungarian Viszla just turned 7m b. Oakswarren Smouldering Hot: bred in the purple I now see; no mistaking her sex both with her lean head with tapering muzzle & with her cleanly refined bodylines with such elegance to her lively gait; gd in neck & shoulder; high withers; back short & level; smooth & shiny coated; absolutely raw but excitingly so.

BP4: Curtis’s TALLISTART MIDNIGHT ASH
Flatcoated Retriever 9m blk d Tallistar Midnight Ash; homebred & Ch sired; one of a trio of siblings, I see, making their debut; so secure, straight & true for such a relative youngster; long, moulded head with strength of muzzle; firm front with some depth of chest & well ribbed up; fine, dense coat; carried himself & his tail so well to earn this promotion.

Warburton’s OWLSPOINT LOADS OF TROUBLE BOB BPIB Best Puppy in Show

Puppy (4,2)
1st Warburton’s OWLSPOINT LOADS OF TROUBLE BOB BPIB
9M O/W D, head of correct proportions with a melting expression, strong neck into well laid shoulders, good in forechest and depth of chest, strongly boned legs to super feet, well angulated fore and aft, he holds a strong topline both standing and on the move which he does with ground covering ease, I gave this boy Puppy Group 1 at Otley when he was just 6.5 months old and was delighted to get my hands on him again, he is maturing beautifully and is so steady for a baby, I have no doubt his future will be very bright, BP, BOB & BPIS, congratulations.
2nd Fazenfield and Smith’s ASKIN FOR TROUBLE
Litter brother to 1 but not as together at present, he is longer cast and doesn’t have the width or depth of chest of his brother at present, that said, he is also well angulated all round and moves well although his feet need to tighten, he will just need time to mature into his frame & tighten up all round

1st Warburton’s WITHAMFRIARY LUSH BLOSSOM
22M C/W B, sweet head of correct planes, eyes of correct shape, I would like a slightly darker eye colour but that’s a personal preference, she has enough neck into a good front assembly, well boned without being overdone, good feet, strong topline to correct tailset, all held well on the move, moved out well but had a tendency to go a little wide in front coming towards me, a nice honest girl but not the presence or showmanship of the younger dog today.

14 month bitch with a shapely head and melting expression, very feminine and correct head shape with correctly shaped eyes of good colour and typical of the breed with a hint of mischief, clean neck of good length with well placed shoulders, decent depth of body for age. Level topline leading to good tailset and carriage , correctly angulated at the rear ,well off for bone with tight feet and in good coat for age ,moved out soundly and positively
2nd Miller’s RAVENSETT CALVARO
14 month male of nice type nicely headed young male developing well for his age, excellent shape overall, moderately constructed all through , excellent topline, to me he was not at one with his owner today all over the place when moving which was a shame as there was a lot to like about him I’m sure he will get better through time.

20M B/W D, lovely head with dark eye and kind expression, ears of correct set and length, good front assembly, strong neck to good topline, tail well set on, well boned legs to good feet, moved steadily around the ring holding his topline BOB
2nd Le-Clerc’s HUNTERBHECK LOST IN A SPELL
Half sister to 1 but very different, much more of a working type, not the head for me, that said, she had a sweet, kind expression with a dark eye, ok for bone, coat and construction, enough bone and correctly shaped feet that would benefit from shorter nails, movement was hard to assess as she was very erratic and giving her handler a hard time. I appreciate it was quite damp outside the venue but I was very surprised that both these exhibits were presented in a less than ideal condition, they were both extremely wet underneath which detracted from their overall presentation, a quick towel down and comb through before coming in the ring would have done the trick.

2yrs 9m blk d; struck me as so functional in his bodylines & condition being built for activity & endurance; classic head being well chiselled with long, lean muzzle; ticked the boxes for neck, shoulder & forehand; not overdone in rib that was carried well back to a strong loin; tail set low, feathered & active; coat so glossy in its condition; a tad unsettled in front but longstriding with drive; quite a prospect for the new show season, particularly once outdoors. BOB
2nd Shipton’s HEARTWOOD MISHULES GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
15m d; glorious liver & tan colour on a dense coat of abundant feathering; different  type to the rest being heavier headed & bodied and whilst perfectly sound, moving on correct flat bone & tight feet, he was rather lethargic with his tail clamped down.

1st Peat and Fox’s TOLLISTY GINGER CHAI BPIB
8m bitch, pretty head with soft expression, she uses her ears very well, enough neck into good shoulder placement, straight front, correct feet, moderate rear angulation, coat of correct texture with undercoat, a bit erratic on the move, not helped by the handler having the lead too long allowing her to keep dropping her head and veering off, a bit more practice and shorter lead and she will look a different picture, BP

1st Adshead’s AFONBACH SYRAX JW
16m B, I liked her for type & size, good head with dark eye, strong neck into well laid shoulder, correct front assembly with good depth of chest and spring of rib, well-muscled hindquarters, probably the best muscle tone of my whole entry today, I would have liked slightly rounder, tighter front feet, coat of a lovely rich red with correct undercoat & well feathered, lively mover covering her ground well

Open (3,1)
1st Adshead’s AFONBACH WINTER IS COMING BOB
6 yr old D, masculine boy with no coarseness, loveliest of heads with dark, expressive eye, strong neck of a good length into well laid shoulders, well off for forechest, straight front legs down to a slightly sloping pastern and super feet, good length of back, strong topline and correctly set on tail, super coat of rich red with undercoat, driving off well angulated hindquarters and well let down hocks keeping a strong topline and well-held tail as he drove round the ring BOB
2nd Golding’s KYMIN VA VA VOOM AVEC WHENOVA
5yr B, her head, when viewed front on, is a little squarer than I like but not unattractive, as feminine as the dog was masculine, strong neck, well laid shoulder, balanced angulation fore & aft, slightly lighter colour of coat with correct undercoat, enough furnishings, moved soundly.

Puppy (2,0)
1st Brooks and Brooks-Tennant’s HAWKFIELD QUEEN BEE OF TENBROOKSHER BPIB
6 month black and white female with a sweet expression and feminine head.  Gracefully curved throughout, she has everything in the right place at this tender age. Well-placed shoulders from a clean neck. Neat in front and plenty of depth to chest. Such pleasing bone, pasterns and shape of feet and toes. Level in top-line, ribs carried well back to a firm loin and hindquarters.  Initially moved with uncertainty, and bouncy, but got it together to show her graceful lines, present neat limbs, clean footfall and lash her beautiful tail.  She coped so well with the ring environment. Adored all her attributes.  Pleased to award her BP
2nd Scales’s RIOWOOD BLACK TIE OF SALOPLASS
Black and white, male who, at 10 ½ months, really does have the most beautiful head proportions, dark eye and a melting expression. His muscular neck sweeps smoothly into a good lay of shoulder. Forequarters have a pleasing return of upper arm. Plenty of depth to brisket with ribs carried to short coupling. Longer cast than 1, he is a pleasing shape all through with graceful curves and a fine example of the breed. Although he moved steadily, his hindquarters lacked a solid driving action in this ring. Preferred the balance of 1 and her overall movement.

Junior (4,1)
1st Booth’s LUNDGARTH JUBILEE
A feminine orange and white female, of 16 months.  Head pleasing in all planes, with fine ears, and good pigment to nose and eyes that gave her a soft expression. Super sweep of firm neck into a nicely laid, lengthy shoulder. Neat front and ribs carried well back to a strong loin. Level in her top-line on the move. Her neat movement, fore and aft, of even strides, won her the class.
2nd Blake’s VADKARTYA’S SNIPE
Black and white male of 16 months with a balanced head and melting, soft expression. He looked a picture when settled on the stack with balanced shoulder and upper arm, neat front and best shaped feet. Ribs carried back to a short coupling. Depth of chest yet to come. Pleasing set on of tail that he did use well. Unfortunately, in this ring today, his forelimb movement was untidy coming towards me and his hindquarters lacked a solid drive.  Close decision, I preferred the movement of 1

Orange and White female of 2 years who is a beauty with her graceful curves and very balanced throughout.  Lovely head proportions and a firm, lengthy neck sweep into the best of shoulders. Such a pleasing front, feet and pasterns. Plenty of heart room in her depth of chest and ribs back to short coupling into admirable hindquarters just right to do the job of a pointer.  Her movement was the best in the Pointer classes, having power in her drive and reach while moving happily around the ring. Pleased to award her BOB. She was later awarded Reserve Best Gundog in Show. Well done.
