BEST IN SHOW
Judge: Carol Moore (Gadhelic)

Best in Show: Bradley’s SH CH STANEGATE STAGE DEBUT SHCEX
Irish Water Spaniel. A beautiful bitch from every angle, she has wonderful breed type, excellent conformation and her movement was clean and free flowing. A dense coat of crisp curls and firm muscletone completed the package and even with all that she had to be on top form to take the win today.

RBIS: Whitehouse’s SH CH MAURSETT MALLACHIE AT MOLVONIA
Clumber Spaniel, a real powerhouse of a dog who impressed me in a huge stakes class and then took it up a notch in the BIS ring, pushed the IWS hard

BIS3: Littlemore’s CH CH INOSTRICANI BELL RAGAZZO VIA KRISMOOR JW
Italian Spinoni Another who is a fabulous example of his breed, put down in excellent condition with a lovely harsh jacket and fully bearded head with those oh so expressive eyes. Strong oval bone and the best of feet, on the move he showed that smooth relaxed ground covering trot required of the breed.

BIS4: Danks-Kemish’s RAVENSETT ALLEGRA WITH ALOLFRANA
English Setter. Only a youngster but absolutely oozing with quality who I am sure has the brightest of futures, put down in fabulous condition with a glorious coat and moved so clean and true in all directions. One to watch for sure.

Best Puppy In Show

BPIS: Bramley’s CALLAISCROFT ESPRIT DE VIE FOR AMICOFEDELE
Bracco Italiano. This youngster is certainly well named with plenty of spirit ! He has the most stunning head for a puppy and it doesn’t stop there, beautifully balanced with super bone and substance showing that noble outline already. Yes he was lively on the move but I love to see such character in a youngster and he showed off his ground covering action when he needed to.Will be interested to see him when fully mature.

RBPIS: Hodgkinson-Rutherford and Rutherford’s RAINETHYME RERITE THE RULES FOR CHANDERHILL
Spanish Water Dog. So typy with a pleasing head, strong flowing topline with a decent body underneath a coat of correct texture and curl. Moved out so well with a lovely clean action.

BP3: Prior’s GENSWIN WHEREVER I LAY MY HAT AT FINNASHEMBER
Flatcoated Retriever. Loved her in the breed class and she certainly kept my attention in the BIS ring. Such a pretty girl with bags of enthusiasm on the move with lots of drive.

BP4: Wildman’s OKTUMI BIG PLAYER
Cocker Spaniel. Handsome young dog put down in top class condition, he has such a typey head with a lovely front assembly and outline. Still immature but showing the distinctive merry action of the breed every time he moved.

Puppy (2,1)
1st Bramley’s CALLAISCROFT ESPRIT DE VIE FOR AMICOFEDELE BPIB, BOB
I loved this puppy. As soon as he walked in, he made me smile. He gave his handler a hard time throughout, but this is what being a puppy is all about. He presented as strong and well off for bone and muscle, and presented a well-balanced picture. masculine head of good proportions and lovely cheeky expression, powerful neck of correct length, body just off square with deep brisket and well sprung ribs. Good angulation fore and aft, which, when he wasn’t bouncing, he showed on the move. I preferred his shape and substance to that of my open winner. BOB & BP.

Mature chap, a touch laid back on the move and not really using his bone and muscle to best advantage, he had a super relaxed charming attitude which was rather alluring, lovely richness and texture to his coat, masculine but not overdone, scores in body and is balanced to the fore and rear, stood alone but a worthy winner all the same.

Open (1,0)
1st Stephens’s BRIGHTMEADOW RUMOUR HAS IT JW BOB
Litter brother and sister with the dog going BOB today. Preferred his overall balance and positivity when moving. Both are very “typey” in profile and head pieces, I felt the dog had a crisper coat. Both were well muscled and had the correct angles fore and aft. Was impressed with the dogs head and intelligent expression. He held his topline and had an easy unhurried gate covering the ground to advantage. Both were sympathetically handled in the challenge to get the best from them.

Field Spaniel
Judge: Karl O’Connor (Karlsjay

Puppy (2,0)
1st James and Vaux’s SONNETEND MADE YOU LAUGH WITH TIPPLEDAL BIPB, BOB
Caught my eye straight away, such a balanced puppy, absolutely gorgeous type of Field, her head is beautiful, good length of muzzle and moderate stop with defined occiput. Lovely eye and expression. She is so good to go over everything where it should be, excellent for size and with good bone, she has the best of fronts and good depth of chest with good ribs. On the move she didn’t disappoint moved out so soundly and efficiently for one so young. Overall look of quality my notes said, and she is that, no hesitation in awarding her BP and BOB in excellent company I will watch her career with interest, so good to hear that she is entered in her first working test next week. I  Wish  her owners all the best with her.
2nd Stone’s SONNETEND MADE YOU LOOK
Yes she did make me look similar comments apply to what I have said about 1 apply to this bitch as well, she just wasn’t as settled on the move, and one just a bit more forward in front at the moment, another whom I shall watch with interest, breeder must be proud of this litter.

Junior (2,1)
1st Woodhouse’s GADHELIC SUNSHINE GIRL AT HALBADIER
17.5 month old liver bitch, a little masculine in outlook for my preference and a little more of a longer cast however no mistaking that she is a honest well balanced girl, sound on the move although lacked a little reach. Good bone and depth, good rear movement. Good eye and expression.

Post Graduate (3,1)
1st McVitty’s SONNETEND ETERNAL FLAME
Another typey girl from this kennel. Liver bitch, head was pleasing although if I’m picking maybe a little broader across the muzzle. Good front well made body with good ribs and a well-muscled back and firm over the loin, presents a very typical field in outline. Good balance sound enough but needed to be moved at a quicker pace.

BPIB and Puppy Group 3 in strong company
2nd Whitaker’s JETSTARSKI RUN LIKE HELL

1st Romeo-Dieste’s HOPEVALLEY MORNING XANADU JW
An exciting young bitch full of promise with the most beautifully moulded head and bright correctly shaped brown eye. She excels in construction with a lovely reach of neck flowing smoothly into a strong topline with plenty of rib underneath. She has good bone and tight feet which along with her well muscled rear gave her strength and drive on the move, pushed hard for BOB but had to give way to the maturity of the open winner who I learnt after was her half sister.

Puppy (4,1)
1st Brown and Burns’s MAGREGOR FOUR LETTER WORD FOR POTHOUSE BPIB
6 month old male, who is very eye-catching, he is masculine with good substance for his age. He has the most delightful head, clean cut and with the nasal bone rising gradually (this is missing in a lot), clean neck leading into good shoulder placement, standing on straight front good depth to chest, ribs still need to spring but this will come, powerful hindquarters which he used to drive around the small ring, he held his topline and tail as he moved. BP.
2nd Adams’s KEIGAME MYSTIQUE AURORA
A compact bitch feminine throughout, pretty headed with lovely expression, clean neck and shoulders, well sprung ribs, well ribbed up and good depth from withers to brisket, strong topline, ample bone and muscle. Another that didn’t cope well with small ring, she just couldn’t get into stride.

2nd Schoneville’s BALVENIE FIDDLE DIDDLE

1st Schoneville’s SH CH BALVENIE DOUBLE DIAMOND JW BOB
I have previously given this male Best of Breed, and my opinion has not changed; he is everything I’m looking for in a GSP. A medium-sized dog with a short back and standing over plenty of ground. He is full of substance and balance, he has the most handsome head with a gentlemanly expression, clean neck and shoulders, plenty of bone, muscle. Moved effortlessly round the ring and has that ‘look at me’ attitude. BOB
2nd Brown and Burns’s SH CH MAGREGOR POP THE DOM OVER POTHOUSE
A male I have admired from the ringside. Another outstanding example of the breed. Masculine head of good proportions and the softest of expressions, he is slightly longer in frame than winner, but completely balanced, he has clean neck and shoulders, strong topline which he held on the move. He moved off with good reach and drive, I just wish I had a bigger ring for these males as it was something quite special to judge this class.

A lovely young bitch who stood out for her balance of elegance and power in the ring. Good drive on the move. Pleasing expression, head conforming to breed standard with the right stop and proportions. Lovely to see a good front with the forechest and body indicating a dog built for a day on the moor. Not surprised I took to this young lady when I discovered she was sired by Yennadon Calvay, a dog I have long admired.
2nd Beddall’s DWENSANTINIS DORA OF ARTIYYO
Another quality bitch and a pleasure to judge. It was close between these two exhibits in the ring today but I made my decision on movement and toplines predominantly. Would have preferred slightly more forechest and bone. She was presented in lovely coat, a very sweet expression and elegant length of neck.

1st Ashley and Turner’s RIVERPRUE THE JOKER BPIB, BOB
This delightful youngster just shy of a year instantly captured my heart. Despite a slightly shaky start on the stand today it was clear to see that he had everything in the right place and undeniable star quality. He is true to type demonstrating the elegance and raciness that are the hallmarks of the breed. Typically Irish he is demonstrably affectionate. His exuberance and joie de vie created a wonderful energy and ring presence as he went around the ring with head held high and lashing tail. Presented in wonderful condition with that deep rich chestnut coat that creates that final picture. He has the correct gently sloping topline and tailset it is so good to see from exhibits. He has the lengths of both neck and body that provide that wonderful silhouette that can only be attributed to the Irish. Gorgeous expression with the colour of eye and proportion of skull and occipital protuberance I would expect from a quality specimen. Excellent front and upper arm angulation. Although raw I had no hesitation in awarding this exhibit both BOB and BPIB. A bright future surely lies ahead. I have long admired his father Jetsetter Wind of Dreams in the ring so little surprise his progeny have also begun their show career with a strong start. BOB. BPIB.

Well-constructed male just shy of six and presented well today. Very pleasing face and eye colour. Solid mover. Although stood alone, he held his own and conforms well to the breed standard and I was pleased to award first place. Well handled.

1st Danks-Kemish’s SH CH ALOLFRANA ALL I ASK OF EVEANDABEC JW
What can I say, presented and handled with panache and clearly a young man who knows his quality, owning the ring with confidence and grace. Pleasing head with well-defined stop and dark eye. Excellent reach of neck, strength of topline and excellent across the croup. Decent depth of chest. Good movement today but thought more impressive moving away than toward. It is not surprising he has already amassed so many accolades in the show ring and will undoubtedly continue to do so.
2nd Hart’s GWENDARIFF IN THE LIMELIGHT WITH GILLIEGRAE JW SHCM
What a superb male for eight years old. Lovely lean and elegant head, good spring of rib and strength of loin. Topline impressive on the stack. Well-developed first and second thigh. Presented in excellent condition and what a picture on the move. Well handled.

I have long admired this lovely young lady. She has a wonderfully sweet expression and set of ear, the most delicate and feminine head. Reach of neck also adds to the overall elegance of her look. Good topline. Moves well around the ring. I would prefer slightly more depth of chest and front angulation. Excellent muscular loin and with a good body and spring of rib. It is not surprising I find this girl appealing given her lineage from Glimmer Noblesse and Lofty lines.

One i have judged before and my comments still apply, she is getting better and better. Feminine throughout, She flows from head to tail, nothing exaggerated about her. Pretty head with a dark eye and a soft expression. Clean neck leading into well-placed shoulders, standing on straight forelegs and tight feet, enough bone and substance for her age, ample spring of rib, solid topline with good tail runoff, good bend of stifle and well let down hocks, she moved with grace and enthusiasm holing her topline as she covered the small ring with ease. BP.
